Ο διακεκριμένος Κινεζοαμερικανός φυσικός Τσεν Νινγκ Γιανγκ, βραβευμένος με Νόμπελ Φυσικής, πέθανε σε ηλικία 103 ετών στις 18 Οκτωβρίου στο Πεκίνο, ύστερα από ασθένεια, σύμφωνα με το κινεζικό πρακτορείο Xinhua.
Γεννημένος το 1922 στη Χεφέι, στην επαρχία Ανχούι της ανατολικής Κίνας, ο Γιανγκ υπήρξε μια από τις σημαντικότερες προσωπικότητες της σύγχρονης φυσικής. Συνέβαλε καθοριστικά στην ανάπτυξη της στατιστικής μηχανικής και στη μελέτη των νόμων συμμετρίας στη φυσική των στοιχειωδών σωματιδίων.
